Nijmegen, the Netherlands Area: 63,600 sq. m
Nijmegen is the home of the Big Trucks: This plant has a special place in the history of the Hyster brand as it was the first manufacturing site to be set up by the company in Europe, with counterbalance trucks being first produced here in 1952. By the late sixties, container-handling trucks were also being manufactured here. Today all HYSTER forklifts over 8 tonnes are manufactured here4 as well as Empty and Laden container handlers and reach stackers. In 1997, Nijmegen became the global centre for Big Truck Development, supported by a modern DFT-driven manufacturing facility, which today provides the worldwide requirement of Big Trucks.
